  South Pacific Charters

The South Pacific:
Puerto Jimenez, Golfito, Zancudo, Drake Bay

Golfito is the largest town on Costa Rica's southern coast, but there are only a half dozen operators scattered between the northern end of Dulce Gulf, the town of Golfito, Puerto Jimenez on the Osa Peninsula and Zancudo beach. Zancudo is a narrow peninsula with miles of beach on the ocean side and bordered by several rivers on the other. Expect to raise a dozen or more sails and likely a marlin or two outside Matapalo cape during peak season, and plenty of jacks, runners, mackerel, amberjack, roosterfish, and big snapper inshore. There are two modern marinas in Golfito, both offering fishing charters as well as facilities for transient yachts.

  Crocodile Bay Lodge
A first class resort adjacent to some of the country's most beautiful beaches on the Osa Peninsula in southwest Costa Rica. The lodge offers 4 distinct types of fishing, and one of the best combinations of inshore and offshore fishing in the world. It sits on its own 44 acres of tropical gardens, located on Golfo Dulce by Puerto Jimenez.

Parrot Bay Village
Specializing in Costa Rica vacations and sport fishing, beautiful Parrot Bay Village is conveniently located just two minutes from the airport on the edge of Puerto Jimenez on the Peninsula de Osa. Here you will find some of the finest trolling for big game fish anywhere.

The Aguila de Osa Inn
The most extensive fleet of custom designed sportfishing vessels available on the southern coast of Costa Rica. Built specifically for local conditions and keeping the fly fisherman in mind, these boats are property of the inn, insuring consistent quality of maintenance and performance.

Drake Bay Wilderness Camp
You and your fishing partner enjoy your own boat with a guide/boat captain (Min. 2 people/ Max. 4 people per boat). Trolling is excellent north of Cano Island where bill fish, dorado and large tuna are brought to the boat. An exciting day or ½ day of fishing at a reasonable price.

  Drake Bay & Caño Island
The abundance of billfish with plentiful fishing action for roosterfish, dorado, wahoo, yellowfin tunas in the 200 pounds range and record size dogtooth snappers, makes this southernmost coastal area the "incredible fishing spot" of Costa Rica.

The smooth three-hours run from Quepos, combined with some trolling does provides plentiful fishing action for dorados and tunas. At this location the blue-water fishing is at your doorstep and with lines in the water you rarely have a dull moment.

Multi-day trips combines with rustic hospitality at Drake Bay Wilderness Camp or Caballito del Mar and with all the fresh fish and shrimp you can put away, you can rest assure that this is an unforgettable fishing venture.

Light tackle is recommended for the evening fishing at the jungle river located at the lodge's doorsteps where fishing for snooks and pargo is a must. You will also find schools of roosterfish working inshore right in front of the lodges. This is a true paradise for fly-fishing.
